Building a successful career in managing depends on what you bring to the table and then what you do once you take a seat at that table. But keep in mind that the others seated at that managing table have their own agendas. There are five major components of management competency. They include:

  1. Knowledge
  2. Skills
  3. Attitudes
  4. Personal characteristics
  5. Experience
